The house

The house which is situated in the old part of Monopoli, Centro Storico, has 2 apartments:

The house TERRAZZA SAN LEONARDO has 3 floors: On 1st. floor you’ll find a bedroom with a double bed, a storage room and a little sitting room with a double sofa bed and flat screen TV and a little balcony. Access to the bedroom is through this room. On 2nd floor there is a large modern kitchen-dining room. There is also a  nice bathroom with toilet, bidet and shower as well as another smaller bathroom with shower and washbasin. On the 3rd. floor you’ll find a little sitting room with a double sofa bed and a tiny working area giving access to the master bedroom with a double bed, wardrobe and a nice view from a little balcony. Further there is a really small toilet on 3rd. floor. Due to the fact that you have to pass through the rooms with the sofa beds to enter the real bedrooms, the house is more suitable for 2 families than for couples as you might disturb each other.

On 4th. floor you’ll find a small room with washing machine and storage for the terrace furniture. Through this room you enter the terrace which is app. 20m2. On the terrace you’ll find tables and chairs as well as a little sofa. There is a lovely view over the roofs of Monopoli and the many churches which form a lovely foreground for the sunset. Here you can hang out for hours listening to the church bells and enjoy the water in the background.

Terrazza San Leonardo is equipped with almost everything – also things that you often miss in holiday apartments, e.g. most kitchen utensils, good bed lamps, hooks where you need them, wireless internet, cook books and lots of maps, brochures and books about Apulia. And of course a dishwasher and washing machine – and a clothes line on the terrace. You can easily stay just 2 or 4 persons in the house, – in this case you just don’t make use of the sofa beds. The house is not suitable for children under 5-6 years and for persons with limited mobility due to many and partly steep stairs.

In this house you are among the local inhabitants who are nice and kind – and sometimes a bit loud – and it’s really “living with the natives”…

You rent bed linen and towels and the beds are already made when you arrive. Bring a few dish cloths and dish towels as well as beach towels from home. Cleaning after your stay is mandatory.

The ground floor of the house is a separate apartment for 2 persons and is handy to rent as well if you are more than 8 persons or if you want a bit more space or you don’t want to use the sofa beds.

Close to the house you’ll find the sandy beach Porta Vecchia with lovely clear water, and if you walk a few more minutes you’ll find beautiful cliffs and many smaller beaches. There are several small grocery stores, restaurants and cafés just around the corner, bur our little street is very quiet. Outside Centro Storico you’ll find the newer part of town dating back to the 1850’ies with even more shops, cafés, restaurants and lovely squares.

CASA SAN LEONARDO is the little ground floor apartment of the house and it covers app. 25 m2. It has the beautiful old vaulted ceilings and original tuff walls and ceilings which are typical for this area. In the back of the apartment you’ll find a double bed, a TV, CD-player as well as a wardrobe. In the front part you’ll find the kitchen area with a small dining table and an armchair. Finally you’ll find a sweet bathroom with shower and bidet. There is also wireless internet in the apartment, just bring your own laptop.

This apartment is a really good alternative to a hotel room.
